I would like to talk to all of you about a topic that may seem boring or irrelevant but nothing could be further from the truth. This trait is what I believe to be the foundation of every success or achievement that has ever been accomplished. It’s something that I’m sure everyone or most are familiar with but we probably don’t ever really stop and consider the impact of it.
The most important aspect of accomplishment, any accomplishment is discipline! I suspect that some of you think of punishment as discipline but that’s not what I’m talking about. Every positive benefit, outcome or accomplishment ever seen in the world can be attributed to discipline!
If we were to analyze people who have earned a great deal of monetary wealth, spiritual wealth or attained amazingly fit physiques, they all have at least one common trait, and that is discipline. For those that think discipline is punishment I would suggest you take a look at the most undisciplined person or people you know. What is their life like? Are they setting goals and accomplishing them? Are they unhappy, alcoholics or drug addicts, or overweight and suffering from what some might consider self-inflicted health problems?
I submit to you the idea that the lack of discipline leads to a much harsher and less forgiving punishment than a simple spanking or being restricted to one’s home.
Consequences include being confined to a job you hate, experiencing less than desirable physical, spiritual and monetary health, just to name a few.
I know that seems like a really shitty thing to say but honestly, take a look around you. I challenge any person reading this to find a financially independent person who is not disciplined! Anyone who has built substantial wealth is going to be disciplined, just as any person who is physically fit is disciplined, and anyone who has experienced a spiritual awakening is also disciplined.
Which one are you going to be? Are you going to be the person that seeks out all the knowledge in the world but never applies it or are you going to take action and continue learning as you move toward your goals and life desires?
I say all these things because I’m right there with you. Although I have experienced some success online, I also see areas that I can improve, such as setting goals and keeping myself on a more achievement oriented timeline. I don’t say these things because I am perfect. I say these things because I am not perfect. Because I want to be better and I want to acknowledge my weaknesses and turn them into strengths.
I say these things because I want anyone reading this to know they are not alone and they are not stuck. You are only stuck with your current circumstances if you choose to give up! Every journey starts with the first step. When will you take yours?
